The Mugello International Circuit – also known as the Mugello Circuit – is located in Scarperia and San Piero and is owned by Ferrari. The track is 5,245 meters long, and winds through 15 bends. Not far from the current plant stood the famous road circuit of Mugello, home to car races held, seamlessly, from 1914 to 1970. The circuit was built on an area of about 170 hectares in 1972, on the initiative of the Automobile Club of Florence, with the intention of giving a more suitable venue for traditional motor racing in the area, which have become too dangerous. The track system was inaugurated in 1974.
